Urban non-point source pollution modelling: A physics-informed neural network approach

Abstract: <p>Over the past decades, urban non-point source (NPS) pollution has been the most severe threat to the urban water environment. The sharp increase of impervious surface and the high level of particulate matter from massive human activities exacerbated the water quality of surface runoff, leading to the significant urban NPS pollution globally whereby it is of importance to have a deep knowledge on the accumulation and transport of pollutants. A series of traditional physical models have been dev… Show more

“…Digital platforms can be influential in implementing innovative business models (Bartczak, 2021). The same thing was also expressed by (Jun et al, 2021), (Khattak, 2022), (Benitez et al, 2022), (Guo et al, 2023), (Wan et al, 2023), which explained that the existence of a high digital capability platform makes the innovation performance of SMEs even higher.…”

“…Several studies have studied extensively the process of implementing individual innovations that have an impact on innovation outcomes (e.g. (Pak et al, 2019), , (Borah et al, 2022a), (Borah et al, 2022b), (Kamble et al, 2023), (Z. Zhang et al, 2023, (Wan et al, 2023), and(Yusof et al, 2023), so that holistic innovation needs to be carried out by Industry to achieve high innovation performance as a result of digital platform hegemony.…”

“…Especially different subsurface flow problems (He et al 2020 have gained popularity in hydrological applications in recent years. Water quality modeling related applications are not yet as numerous, but there exists a growing number of research, for instance from pollution transport modeling (Bertels and Willems 2023), source modeling (Tang et al (2023)) and water quality parameter prediction (Jahanbakht et al (2022)). Like GNNs, PINNs do not have applications for micropollutants.…”
