Ureaplasma diversum and Its Membrane-Associated Lipoproteins Activate Inflammatory Genes Through the NF-κB Pathway via Toll-Like Receptor 4

Abstract: Objectives: Ureaplasma diversum is a pathogen of cows that may cause intense inflammatory responses in the reproductive tract and interfere with bovine reproduction. The aims of this study were to evaluate the immune response of bovine blastocysts and macrophages to U. diversum infection and to evaluate the invasion capacity of this microorganism in bovine blastocysts. Methods: Viable and heat-inactivated U. diversum strains ATCC 49782 and CI-GOTA and their extracted membrane lipoproteins were inoculated in mac… Show more

“…Strains representing the four evaluated states (Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul) presented proteins with interesting properties for immunological stimulation (Diagrams 1 and 3). These data corroborate with other studies that show that U. diversum induces variable immune responses in vivo and in vitro [7,37].…”

“…In this work, the PCR detection of 36 UdLAMPs in isolates from U. diversum, from different regions of Brazil, warns of potential damage to livestock that U. diversum can cause, because in addition to immunomodulation, studies suggest that LAMPs are involved in adherence and invasion and cell apoptosis [2,7,15,36]. Strains representing the four evaluated states (Bahia, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, and Mato Grosso do Sul) presented proteins with interesting properties for immunological stimulation (Diagrams 1 and 3).…”

“…because secretory IgA plays a protective role in the vaginal mucosa . U. diversum has been associated with infertility in cows and may result in severe placentitis, fetal alveolitis, abortion and internalization into bovine blastocyst . U. parvum can be internalized into HeLa cells and can escape host cellular autophagosomal degradation by disturbing intracellular organisms through an unknown mechanism …”

“…Overall, the dominant microorganisms at the phylum level in healthy pig lungs were Proteobacteria , Firmicutes , and Bacteroidetes , which are similar to the lung microorganisms present in humans [ 12 , 34 ], mice [ 35 , 36 ], and cattle [ 21 , 37 ]. This finding indicates that the composition of lung microorganisms in healthy individuals of different species is comparable.…”
