“…It was previously stated that UNC had a very high success also in patients who had an injection failure (11,21,22). Considering the fact that even though not all of our patients had a control VCUG, our results showed that patients with a history of previous failed endoscopic injection had a significantly lower clinical improvement rate (83.9% vs. 94%).…”

“…We were also concerned that Dx/HA injection worsened our success with ureteral reimplantation, as only 2/5 patients had resolution of VUR. There are no data on ureteral reimplantation after Dx/HA in pediatric patients, but 40% is lower than the 98% success seen in native pediatric ureters after Dx/HA and the expected 70%‐80% for redo extravesical reimplantation of transplant pediatric ureters which have not been injected . While anastomosing the transplant ureter into the distal native ureter is an established technique, it is sometimes not available if the child had previous high‐grade VUR and prior ureteral surgery.…”

“…Chertin et al [ 1 ] reported the success rate of open reimplantation following failed Deflux injections to be 100%. A similar study by Moreira-Pinto et al [ 16 ] reported a success rate of 98%. Sencan et al [ 17 ] showed that previous endoscopic injections could cause difficulties in dissection of the ureter because of fibrosis; however, they did not alter the success rate or complications following open surgery.…”
