“…Extreme increases in the NEOP levels, however, occurred exclusively during cytomegalovirus diseases. The high diagnostic value of NEOP in the detection of viral infections corresponds to the findings of other groups [3,26]. In summary, SAA was the rejection marker with the highest diagnostic performance in the detection of pancreas rejections in this study.…”

“…Within the scope of our study, the concentrations of neopterin were also detected. Neopterin levels were determined in biological fluids, including blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid (Molero‐Luis et al, 2020), tears (Baydar et al, 2016), synovial fluid (Zhou et al, 2013), pancreatic juice (Tilg et al, 1992), saliva (Mahendra et al, 2014), ascites (Haeger et al, 1996), and breast milk (Plata‐Nazar et al, 2015). Immediately after birth, the blood concentration of neopterin rises, similar to that observed in the third trimester, and then, it gradually decreases to pre‐pregnancy levels at about the 6th week.…”

“…74 Multiple initial studies demonstrated success using this molecule to differentiate between liver allograft rejection and viral infections. 75,76 However, a 2015 study demonstrated that early post-LT measurements of serum neopterin were significantly correlated with 1-y survival in LT recipients. 77 Despite this, the pleiotropic actions of neopterin make achieving diagnostic specificity difficult.…”
