Use of a highly dispersed chalk additive for the production of concrete for transport structures

Abstract: The concretes used for transport infrastructure facilities are exposed to the active impact of corrosive environment; therefore, such concretes face raised demands as for water repellency, frost resistance and corrosion resistance. These properties can be improved due to the use of additives that have a different kind of effect. This research paper gives consideration to the influence of added highly-dispersed chalk on the physical and mechanical properties of concrete, in particular, water repellency and fros… Show more

“…-minimizing the expansion effect is achieved by introducing various active mineral additives to the cement composition. These additives can be both of secondary [17] and volcanic origin (limestone with amorphous silica content [18], zeolites [19], perlite, tuff, etc. [20]).…”

“…Nowadays a question of widening of raw materials base became very sharp [1][2], including materials for cement and concrete production [3][4][5]. Permanent rising of prices on traditional high-quality aggregates leads to the search of chipper ones, but at the same time the less qualified materials [6][7][8]. Between aggregates in this category there is a high possibility to have active grains (active silica) , able to participate in reaction with cement matrix and leading to the problems [12][13][14], some times -technogen accidents [15][16][17].…”
