“…This durability of neurostimulation therapy is confirmed for safety, efficacy and sustainability in clinical practice. Recent advances in new targets new waveforms and new lead delivery tools may produce further improvements in these outcomes and continue to improve patient outcomes and safety. The PAIN registry will serve as a resource to analyze patient response characteristics and to improve design in future prospective analyses.…”

“…Clinical outcomes have been similar to those of traditional nonslimline implants. It has also been reported that such leads cannot be placed because of scarring in about 10% of patients and that less than 80% coverage of painful areas occurs in 20% of implants . However, these limitations can be offset by their less invasive nature and the lack of removal of bone and midline support structures during implantation (and their lower associated risk of future instability), potentially reducing surgical times and operative costs, and by the fact that nonsurgeons are able to implant such paddle‐type leads.…”

“…6 In addition, over the last decade, electrical neuromodulation has been shown to effectively treat refractory pain. 7,8 The combination of early surgical repair and neurostimulation has led to substantial improvement in pain over time and is recommended as a standard treatment option. 9,10…”
