Aiming at the selection research gap of AG600 amphibious aircraft for salvage of life at sea, the selection index system of AG600 has been established, and an interval intuitionistic fuzzy selection decision model based on fuzzy entropy and score function is constructed. An evaluation index system with 8 indexes was determined based on the rules of the applicability, safety, and accessibility by questionnaire and statistical analysis. Different from the traditional method of determining the fuzzy number of each index solely by experts’ scoring, this paper establishes a 5-grade fuzzy evaluation grade and index membership function, and the interval intuitionistic fuzzy number of the index is determined by combining subjective and objective methods. Fuzzy entropy and score function are used to calculate the weights of each index and AG600 selection score for different accidents, so as to obtain the matching degree of AG600 selection in marine life accidents more scientifically and reasonably. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model is demonstrated by a practical case.

Marine Cloud Brightening (MCB) is a proposed Solar Radiation Modification (SRM) geoengineering technique to enhance Marine Boundary Layer (MBL) cloud albedo. Extant proposals consider 10,000-100,000 autonomous ships spraying seawater, generating and dispersing sea salt nanoparticles. Alternatively, this paper proposes industrially manufacturing NaCl nanoparticles using ethanol anti-solvent brine precipitation. With desiccation, size optimization and narrowed size distribution, aerosol mass flux reduces by 500x (17x for dry mass flux). This facilitates Unmanned Aerial Vehicle delivery (e.g. MQ-9 Reaper Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Increased speed and wake turbulence improves areal coverage per vehicle vs. ships --- reducing fleet size. Utilizing extant airframe designs improves vehicle Technology Readiness Level (TRL) --– potentially improving system operational cost (est. $40B per year) and lead time. This approach further reduces energy requirements (5x less), technical risk and system complexity. Increased readiness amplifies proliferation risk --- particularly for inexpensive regional heatwave and hurricane suppression --- making governance more urgent.

Ocean alkalinity enhancement (OAE) is being considered as a way of achieving large-scale removals of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Research on the risks and benefits of different OAE approaches is expanding apace, but it remains difficult to anticipate and appraise the potential impacts to human communities that OAE might generate. These impacts, however, will be critical to evaluating the viability of specific OAE projects. This paper draws on the authors’ involvement in interdisciplinary assessment of OAE (1) to identify the factors that currently limit characterization of potential social impacts and (2) to propose ways of reconfiguring OAE research to better consider these.
