Use of An ipsilateral Vascularized Ulnar Transposition Autograft for Limb‐Sparing Surgery of the Distal Radius in Dogs: An Anatomic and Clinical Study

Abstract: Skin flaps used to repair large skin defects in dogs can be created and elevated with a CO(2) laser. In areas of increased skin mobility or tension, skin flaps created with CO(2) laser may be more susceptible to complications such as dehiscence, and care should be taken to minimize these complications.

“…Human reports exist describings ignificant plasma misoprostol levels 10 minutes following an oral rinse or vaginal application (22).Localapplicationofmisoprostol to surgicalsites in theoral cavity of dogs demonstrateds timulationo fn ew bone formation and an increased rate of periodontal regeneration; howeverp lasma concentrations of misoprostol were not evaluated (16)(17)(18).I n one report, systemic effects were evaluated by sampling tissues from sites distant to the siteo fa pplication. The expected effects attributable to misoprostol couldo nlyb e found up to 1cmfromthe area of local infusion.Although these studies do not eliminate thepossibility of systemic absorptionoflocally applied misoprostol, theys uggestt hat theb ioavailabilitym ay differ between oral, mucosal, and wound applications.…”
