Use Of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitors, Angiotensin Receptor Blockers And Risk Of Dementia In Heart Failure

Abstract: Payers are increasingly concerned with assessing the value of pharmaceutical products to guide reimbursement and pricing decisions, and particularly in countries employing an HTA process, value is often largely based on clinical effectiveness measured as cost-per-QALY. The objective of this study is to assess how the EQ-5D index reacts across a broad range of conditions to clinical changes which are considered significant at the individual disease and patient level. METHODS: A systematic review of published st… Show more

“…First, a timedependent Cox model was developed, and second, a marginal structural Cox model using inverse probability weights was constructed. 33,35 Missing data for variables were handled by multiple imputation approach based on the pattern for all available observations. For all analyses, a level of significance was set to 0.05 and all reported P values are 2-sided.…”

“…No statin use in a month was defined as no prescription for statin or days' supply covered less than 15 days in that month or any preceding months. 33,34 Thus statin users could become nonusers of statin during follow-up. Exposure to statin treatment was therefore time varying or time dependent and could change over the course of follow-up.…”

“…16 This protective effect has also been observed in nonhypertensive individuals who are taking ACE-Is for other indications. 17 However, not all studies have shown this protective effect 18,19 ; the mechanisms of protection are unclear, and the effect may 14,20,21 or may not 11,22 be restricted to centrally acting ACE-Is that cross the blood-brain barrier, depending on which population is being studied.…”
