Use of Cadmium Inclusion Complex for the Preparation of Crystalline CdS Materials

Abstract: Inclusion complex, [Cd(phen) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]2L·6H 2 O (1), where HL= 4-methylbenzenesulfonic acid and phen = phenanthroline, could be achieved by combining d 10 Cd 2+ to HL and small organic molecule phen in high yield under moderate conditions. Nanoparticles of CdS could be obtained by hydrothermal decomposing single crystals of 1 with the assistance of Na 2 S.
