Use of Collagen-Stimulating Coatings for Herniaimplants: Comparison of Morphological Characteristics of Tissue in the Implantation Area

Abstract

It is necessary to pay attention to herniaimplants with a collagen-stimulating coating during herniaplasty of the anterior abdominal wall in order to achieve adequate biocompatibility in the area implantation. The purpose of the work is to evaluate the response of tissues to implantable polypropylene herniaimplants with and without collagen-stimulating coating. In the study 75 Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups: the first group was implanted with a polypropylene herniaimplant without coating, the second groupa polypropylene herniaimplant with a rutine coating, the third group -a polypropylene herniaimplant with coating a rutine + ascorbic acid. On days 7, 30 and 90, histological sections of the biomaterial of laboratory animals were examined using light microscopy after staining with hematoxylin and eosin according to the method of Van Gieson and Mallory. On the 7 day, in the area of implantation of the polypropylene herniaimplant with coated rutin + ascorbic acid, a significant (p≤0, 05) increase in the rate of fibroblast series cell proliferation was observed compared to polypropylene herniaimplants without coating and with rutin coating. However, on day 90, a statistically significant (p≤0, 05) decrease in the number of fibrocytes was observed in the group with a rutine implant coating compared to the control group and the group of a polypropylene herniaimplant with coated rutin + ascorbic acid. The herniaimplant with coated rutin + ascorbic acid integrated better with the surrounding tissues, which was expressed in the early predominance of fibroblast series cells, which contributed to the synthesis of collagen.
