When designing ejection charges, one must establish the shape and size of the cavities for different blasting parameters. For single ejection charges of concentrated form Strausman [i] gives corresponding recommendations on the basis of collation of the results of industrial blasting in various rocks. The cross sections of cavities of several different scales were found to be geometrically similar, the horizontal dimensions were expressed in fractions of a halfspan of the cavities, the vertical dimensions in fractions of the ejection depth (Fig. i). It has been experimentally established [2] that the generalized cross section ofan ejection cavity, shown in Fig. i, also corresponds to the results of firing of single ejection charges of linear form, located in charge trenches.For the above cases the equations of the cross-sectional profile of the cavity have the form X'$
