Abstract: Background and Objectives. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a lethal neurodegenerative disease, characterized by gradual paralysis and muscle atrophy. Riluzole, the only approved treatment in Norway, increases mean survival by 3–6 months.
