Use of the NobleStitch™ EL for the treatment of patients with residual right‐to‐left shunt following device closure of PFO

Abstract: The unique design of the NobleStitch™ EL allows it to be used to close residual defects following failed device PFO closure without impacting the integrity of previously placed double‐disk Gore occluders.

“…correcting residual symptomatic shunting following permanent metal device placement [6,7,8]. Utilization of the NobleStitch reduces the impact of confounding factors that influence device selection, such as the width and length of the defect, the integrity of the septal rims, and tissue compliance, all of which contribute to device failure.…”

“…The NobleStitch EL represents an alternative percutaneous closure procedure that overcomes some of the challenges surrounding septal device placement and allows for better closure in the context of anatomic disruption from trauma. Several cases have been reported demonstrating the utility of the NobleStitch in correcting residual symptomatic shunting following permanent metal device placement [ 6 , 7 , 8 ]. Utilization of the NobleStitch reduces the impact of confounding factors that influence device selection, such as the width and length of the defect, the integrity of the septal rims, and tissue compliance, all of which contribute to device failure.…”

“…39 Other complications, such as pericardial effusion, 24 device embolization, and device erosion, are extremely rare. A new device, NobleStitch, 40 is being studied, and a clinical trial is underway in the United States (NCT04339699) to compare its effectiveness with that of the established Amplatzer device; the Occlutech Flex II device is being used in Europe and Canada and is under investigation in the United States (NCT05069558).…”
