Usefulness and drawbacks of comparing balloon‐expandable and self‐expanding TAV

Abstract

Key points TAVR procedures performed with new‐generation balloon‐expandable and self‐expanding valves had comparable in‐hospital outcomes in the Brazilian RIBAC‐NT registry. Center and operator volumes have an impact on TAVR outcomes; this makes a point to opt for highvolume centralized TAVR centres. The future will tell whether comparative TAVR studies are truly meaningful in an era of a more patient‐tailored TAVR approach and device choice.
