Usefulness and drawbacks of comparing balloon‐expandable and self‐expanding TAV

Abstract:Key points
TAVR procedures performed with new‐generation balloon‐expandable and self‐expanding valves had comparable in‐hospital outcomes in the Brazilian RIBAC‐NT registry.
Center and operator volumes have an impact on TAVR outcomes; this makes a point to opt for highvolume centralized TAVR centres.
The future will tell whether comparative TAVR studies are truly meaningful in an era of a more patient‐tailored TAVR approach and device choice.
