“…McNamara et al have recently described a similar approach to collecting compliance data via automated CIS queries; however, they were not able to demonstrate clinically and statistically significant changes in CRBSI rates after implementing the system (McNamara et al , ). Real‐time electronic feedback has been shown to increase compliance from 20% to 90% in a recent study aiming at reduction of VAP in the ICU (Sedwick et al , ) and it is argued that automated feedback is the most reliable driver of change.…”

“…[20] The ventilator bundle is believed to improve the outcome of ICU patients with VAP by setting priority, standardizing patient care, promoting adherence, and enhancing reliability and accountability. [2122] On the other hand, some reports failed to show decline in VAP rate after implementation of IHI ventilator bundle. [23]…”

“…Consistent with the literature, the value of the standardized process is increased with the use of multiple methods to reinforce knowledge and compliance. 7,9,11,15 Concurrent reviews were completed by unit leadership during the initial stages of project implementation. Commendation for compliance and "in the moment" coaching occurred during this time to prevent any possible noncompliance.…”
