“…On the other hand, a very small market structure, poor governance, buyer‐driven value chains, inadequate wild seed supply and poor quality feeding regimes were listed as the most important reasons for the sudden collapse of the soft‐shell crab industry in the Cox's Bazar region. These findings are similar to other studies, where disease outbreaks, poor market structure (Rahman et al, 2018), fragmented value chains, poor profitability, inadequate supply of products and poor policies have been identified as major reasons for the downfall of the seafood farming industry (Arquitt et al, 2005; Belton et al, 2017; Prusty et al, 2011). Protected zones for species (Prusty et al, 2011), creation of local demand (Belton et al, 2017), introduction of value‐added products and the expansion of new markets are the key issues that need to be addressed to increase the sustainability of the industry.…”
