Using GIS for Time Series Analysis of the Dead Sea from Remotely Sensing Data

Abstract: Developed tools of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System are rapidly spread in recent years in order to manage natural resources and to monitor environmental changes. This research aims to study the spatial behavior of the Dead Sea through time. To achieve this aim, time series analysis has been performed to track this behavior. For this purpose, fifteen satellite imageries are collected from 1972 to 2013 in addition to 2011-ASTGTM-DEM. Then, the satellite imageries are radiometrically and atmospher… Show more

“…The suitability atlas contains a series of suitability maps, which are usually built through the multi-criteria evaluation (MCE). The basic point of MCE is to integrate different rules to derive a single index of evaluation[ 61 ]. The MCE includes two parts: the constraints (the hard rules) and the factors (the soft rules).…”

“…Factors (criteria) and trade-offs are integrated into the modules to construct suitability maps and to resolve multi-objective decisions. In order to create a single evaluation index, different factors (rules) and constraints were used (El-Hallaq and Habboub, 2014). The steps involve developing identified criteria, standards and aggregation.…”
