Hands are the most important tool to interact with virtual environments, and they should be available to perform the most critical tasks. For example, a surgeon in VR should keep his/her hands on the instruments and be able to do secondary tasks without performing a disruptive event to the operative task. In this common scenario, one can observe that hands are not available for interaction. The goal of this systematic review is to survey the literature and identify which hands-free interfaces are used, the performed interaction tasks, what metrics are used for interface evaluation, and the results of such evaluations. From 80 studies that met the eligibility criteria, the voice is the most studied interface, followed by the eye and head gaze. Some novel interfaces were brain interfaces and face expressions. System control and selection represent most of the interaction tasks studied and most studies evaluate interfaces for usability. Despite the best interface depending on the task and study, the voice was found to be versatile and showed good results amongst the studies. More research is recommended to improve the practical use of the interfaces and to evaluate the interfaces more formally.

The tendency of continuous aging of the population and the increasing number of people with mobility difficulties leads to increased research in the field of Assistive Service Robotics. These robots can help with daily life tasks such as reminding to take medications, serving food and drinks, controlling home appliances and even monitoring health status. When talking about assisting people in their homes, it should be noted that they will, most of the time, have to communicate with the robot themselves and be able to manage it so that they can get the most out of the robot's services. This research is focused on different methods of remote control of a mobile robot equipped with robotic manipulator. The research investigates in detail methods based on control via gestures, voice commands, and web-based graphical user interface. The capabilities of these methods for Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) have been explored in terms of usability. In this paper, we introduce a new version of the robot Robco 19, new leap motion sensor control of the robot and a new multi-channel control system. The paper presents methodology for performing the HRI experiments from human perception and summarizes the results in applications of the investigated remote control methods in real life scenarios.

The development of automated tractors is anticipated to address the problem of a declining and aging agricultural labor force. However, there are numerous situations in which automatic driving is difficult in the field. We developed a remote operation system allowing novice tractor drivers to control a tractor remotely in situations where automatic driving is difficult and evaluated its performance on a real tractor in a field. Our challenge was to design a user interface (UI) that allows novices to comprehend the tractor's status and return the tractor situation where automatic operation is possible. The system's UI is inspired by popular video games. In experiments, even novice tractor drivers with little or no experience driving automobiles or playing video games could remotely control the tractor and till according to the goal line. In addition, the participants dealt with an invisible obstacle by viewing illustrations of the tractor sensor data. The designed UI's operation methods and operator attributes were analyzed. Through the experiment, the following facts were revealed. A method of operation that allows the analog stick to adhere to the mechanical guide results in smooth operation. In addition, the participant's preferred control method depends on his/her gaming experience. Thus, this study clarifies some of the specifications and design guidelines necessary for a novice-friendly remote UI for the remote operation of a tractor. This can be attributed to the improvement in labor productivity and the decline of the agricultural workforce due to the introduction of agricultural machinery (Liu et al., 2020; Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, 2022).
