Using multi-dimensional correlation for matching and alignment of MoCap and video signals

Abstract: Abstract-Motion analysis and tracking often relies on multimodal signals, e.g., video, depth map, motion capture (MoCap), due to the completeness of information they jointly provide. The joint analysis of multimodal signals requires to know the correct timing, i.e., the signals to be aligned. In this paper we propose an approach to automatically estimate the correct matching and alignment between a video and a MoCap recording acquired from the same session, based on the multi-dimensional correlation of velocit… Show more

“…They are measures of the complexity of dynamical systems and the randomness of the observations. The correlation dimension was applied for instance in the following studies: analysis of heart rate variability in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (Carvajal et al, 2005 ), assessment of EEG signals of patients with epileptic seizures (Silva et al, 1999 ), predicting bispectral index based on EEG (Ahmadi et al, 2010 ), measuring dynamics of dyad synchrony for mocap data (Buccoli et al, 2017 ) and decoding hand movements carried out for EMG signals (Namazi and Jafari, 2019 ). There are also numerous applications of approximate and sample entropies in the description of biological time-series data.…”

“…A viewer has been integrated so as to allow the synchronized playback of a video, as well as its corresponding motion capture file. The synchronization of the two formats [5], as well as the development of the 3D visualizer, falls out of the scope of this paper and is not reported here.…”
