With the continuous innovation and development of information technology and communication technology, human beings have entered a huge data center. In terms of big data, in-depth discussion on the in-depth application of big data is the current situation and development direction. Based on the intelligent sensor network, this paper conducts theoretical and empirical analysis combined with the application of individualized teaching in teaching and provides some reference opinions for the future development of individual pedagogy. On the basis of the research, the meaning of big data is explained from multiple perspectives. In the empirical research part, based on big data, based on real big data, and using relevant technologies in data mining, the relevance of each training program is analyzed. Mining was carried out using the FP-Growth method to analyze the correlation of each training scheme and optimize the FP-Growth method accordingly. The results of this experiment show that the use of big data can not only help teachers understand their students’ daily life, study habits, and consumption records but also make teachers’ work more dynamic, early warning, and subsidized. The research results are of great significance for guiding colleges and universities to formulate educational programs that are beneficial to students’ development, keep pace with the times, and cultivate modern educational technicians with modern significance.

Learning analytics for smart campus: Data on academic performances of engineering undergraduates in Nigerian private university

Empirical measurement, monitoring, analysis, and reporting of learning outcomes in higher institutions of developing countries may lead to sustainable education in the region. In this data article, data about the academic performances of undergraduates that studied engineering programs at Covenant University, Nigeria are presented and analyzed. A total population sample of 1841 undergraduates that studied Chemical Engineering (CHE), Civil Engineering (CVE), Computer Engineering (CEN), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Information and Communication Engineering (ICE), Mechanical Engineering (MEE), and Petroleum Engineering (PET) within the year range of 2002–2014 are randomly selected. For the five-year study period of engineering program, Grade Point Average (GPA) and its cumulative value of each of the sample were obtained from the Department of Student Records and Academic Affairs. In order to encourage evidence-based research in learning analytics, detailed datasets are made publicly available in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet file attached to this article. Descriptive statistics and frequency distributions of the academic performance data are presented in tables and graphs for easy data interpretations. In addition, one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and multiple comparison post-hoc tests are performed to determine whether the variations in the academic performances are significant across the seven engineering programs. The data provided in this article will assist the global educational research community and regional policy makers to understand and optimize the learning environment towards the realization of smart campuses and sustainable education.

Abstract-Big data is one of the most popular research trends in the current time. Popularity and usability of Big Data make it most promising research area in past decade. Learning analytics using Big Data is the emerging field and most of the areas are taking use of these results and outcomes as a yield of this analytics. It becomes important to learn and understand the learning analytics and outcome of the Big Data. Increasing data and demand in versatility in results have created new challenges in almost every field. Higher education institutions are also one of them as they have to face new challenges to maintain their reputation and students' growth. Institutes have responded by adopting analytics based approach to empower organizational and educational effectiveness. Making analytics actionable in the field of IT becomes mandatory for the higher educational institutes. This paper has identified different areas of education which can take advent use of such analytics and higher education can sense their growth in terms of quantity and quality. Quality assurance is the motive of the research paper so that we can put the results of analytics actionable.
