“…The popularity of this insect species for bioconversion stems from its multiple advantages. One of the main advantages of this insect is that the larvae can grow rapidly on an astonishing variety of organic streams, including manure and agri-food waste [3,[13][14][15], allowing for the conversion of organic waste into biomass in the form of protein-rich (40-45%, dry basis) and lipid-rich (35-40%, dry basis) larvae that can be used to generate biofuels and as protein source for livestock and aquaculture feed [16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25].
