Using Religious Poetry of the Seventeenth Century to Start Environmental Conversations in Protestant College Classrooms

Abstract: In this paper it is argued that Christian poetry of the seventeenth century, specifically that of John Donne, George Herbert, and Andrew Marvell can be used in the English classrooms of Protestant colleges in order to introduce students studying Bible and theology to the notion that theology can and should be environmentally minded.
