Using the American College of Surgeons Cancer Registry to Drive Quality

Abstract: A discussion of the uses and future plans of the National Cancer Data Base, which has been reengineered in recent years for applying and reporting quality measure data and most recently for rapid case ascertainment and patient care tracking.

“…A retrospective review of the National Cancer Database (NCDB) from 2004 to 2017 was performed to identify patients ≥ 18 years old with non-metastatic ampullary adenocarcinoma. The NCDB is a combined effort of the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons and the American Cancer Society and represents >70% of cancer diagnoses in the United States from over 1500 healthcare facilities [11].
