Using the stationary tests of the acceptance process of a rail vehicle to identify the vehicle model parameters

Abstract: The accuracy of multi-body simulation results relies on the model building process and the accuracy of the model parameters. A more widespread use of vehicle dynamic calculations in the acceptance process would be possible if the validation of the model was secured. This paper proposes a methodology for an objective and direct identification of the values of the parameters of a rail vehicle model, using the results of the stationary tests defined in the acceptance process of railway vehicles (EN14363). The met… Show more

“…The presented examples show that the validation comparisons sometimes may alter from a model justification to a justification and correction of the measurement inexactness. Uncertainties calculation of a model parameters and error propagation is investigated by Aizpún et al [36]. This method is virtually validated using a model of an Inter-city train operated in Spain.…”

“…Evans 4 presents his experience with model validation by comparisons with stationary tests. The use of stationary tests of the acceptance process of a rail vehicle to identify the vehicle model parameters is proposed by Aizpun et al 5 While the previous publications only discuss the experience considering the model validation, few recent publications evaluate new validation methods and propose quantitative validation criteria. Polach and Bo¨ttcher 6 and Polach et al 7,8 propose model validation method developed in the framework of the EU-funded research project DynoTRAIN.…”
