Resumen-La Ingeniería Web propone nuevos métodos para el diseño de aplicaciones que se ejecutan en esta nueva plataforma que es la World Wide Web. Uno de estos métodos es UWE (UML Web Engineering), el cual aprovecha la notación estándar del UML e incorpora elementos que son propios del desarrollo Web. En este artículo se presenta un caso de estudio para el diseño de un Sistema de Recomendación de Objetos de Aprendizaje, donde el modelado básico se realiza mediante el UWE. Se modela una aplicación Web que permite a los usuarios realizar la composición de los Objetos de Aprendizaje que el mismo sistema le recomienda al usuario previo análisis de las características tanto del mismo como de los Objeto de Aprendizaje almacenados en un repositorio especializado llamado AGORA.

Finding high-quality educational resources on the Web is a demanding work both for the teachers and for the students. The difficulty stems from the big quantity of didactic resources available in the net, the slight offered functionality of search engines and the lack of good metadata attached to the resources. For these reasons, the attention of the research community is currently focused on improving pedagogical information in the description of Learning Objects, to make them suitable for use in Distance Learning. In order to do this, however, it is necessary to decide how important it is from the informatics standpoint to take into account pedagogical information and, above all, what information needs to be included in order to be able to improve the degree of reusability of LO. On the basis of these premises, it seems to us justifiable to claim that in order to guarantee a high degree of reusability of teaching resources and an adequate level of personalization of learning paths, it is essential to identify all the variables and all the factors that take place in a learning process. This will make it possible to define what other pedagogical information needs to be included. These reflections have led us to create a repository collecting teachers' experiences, and providing them with information on the learning scenarios most suited to reuse of a given teaching resource. For this purpose, a set of specifications (named EXM -experiences metadata) has been drawn up, that guides the teacher's formulation of a description of all the variables and other factors serving to describe a learning/teaching. Adequate description of the teaching resources, therefore, will not only facilitate teachers' retrieval of the desired content but also, and above all, their redesign of learning/teaching contexts, which can thus improve the supply of distance learning content

The IMS Content Packaging Specification is a format that facilitates the deployment of discrete units of learning resources based on an XML structure called a manifest. The contents and structure of a content package are determined at design time when it is created. Since the package has been authored for use in a particular instructional setting, re-purposing the content package to meet the demands of a different instructional setting is difficult. Although there have been attempts to improve the flexibility of the package such as using IMS Simple Sequencing, the adaptation provided is still inadequate. In this paper we argue that Web Services can be used to facilitate the dynamic adaptation of a content package so that it can be reused in diverse instructional scenarios and accessed by additional learners who otherwise would not be able to utilize it. We present a framework for adaptation based on web services and identify a representative set of web services that could be used for content package adaptation. We then discuss in detail the Media Integration and Translation Services for Accessibility (MITSA), a category of web services designed to promote media accessibility of a content package. Finally, we conclude by highlighting the benefits of the web services approach for content package adaptation.
