Utilisation of chemically modified lampante oil for wood protection

Abstract: Within the Slovenian region of Istria, the olive growing and oil production industry is strong. This industry has a long history and the olives grown here have high levels of biologically active compounds including a variety of phenolic compounds. Using residual materials generated by this industry in potential wood protection systems would not only valorise low-value materials and stimulate rural economies but would also provide an alternative to currently used oil-based protection systems. The objective of t… Show more

“…Treatments with environmentally friendly and biodegradable oils are known to reduce capillary water uptake by creating a protective layer on the wood surface (Lee et al, 2018;Schwarzkopf et al, 2018). Since oil treatment improves the hydrophobicity of the wood surface, the rate of water absorption is limited and the risk or rate of fungal attack is reduced (Koski, 2008;Temiz et al, 2008a;Tomak et al, 2011b;Jebrane et al, 2015;Demirel et al, 2018).…”

“…В исследованиях [3][4][5][6] приводятся результаты разработки пропиточных составов на основе льняного, подсолнечного и других растительных масел с целью получения композитных материалов на основе древесины, используемых в строительстве и быту. Авторами [7] изучено влияние времени обработки горячими растительными маслами на физико-механические свойства древесины дуба.…”
