“…EndoPAT 2000 device (Itamar Medical Ltd., Caesarea, Israel) was used to evaluate peripheral arterial endothelial function, as described previously [10,14,18,19,20,21]. Pneumatic probes were applied to the tip of one finger on each hand to measure digital volume changes accompanying arteriolar tone changes.…”

“…20, 22 In addition, Suzuki et al reported that impairment of endothelial function assessed by RH-PAT was related to systemic thrombosis in patients after lower limb arthroplasty. 9 That study also demonstrated an overlap of many risk factors, which are included in clinical risk stratification using the CHA2DS2-VASc score as recommended by the European Society of Cardiology, 23 and these factors were associated with the development of spontaneous deep vein thrombosis. Our study results suggested that a noninvasive test of peripheral endothelial function using RH-PAT could assess the possible thromboembolic source or severity of atherosclerosis, and might explain the improvement in clinical risk stratification in patients with AF.…”

“…9, 10 Preoperative endothelial dysfunction has previously been demonstrated to be a predictor of postoperative adverse events (AEs) in patients with peripheral vascular surgery, 11 general thoracic surgery, 12 and total hip or knee arthroplasty. 13 However, there are no data about this issue in patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery. Furthermore, endothelial dysfunction is also associated with the pathogenesis of atrial fibril-Endothelial Function and Cardiovascular Surgery EndoPAT2000 device.…”

“…The principle of RH-PAT measurement has been previously described. 13,18,19 In brief, the patients fasted and refrained from caffeine, tobacco or medications for at least 8 h. The test was conducted in a quiet and temperaturecontrolled room in the early morning. A finger probe was placed on each index finger, and the air cuff was connected by a pneumatic tube to the inflation device.…”
