“…These weight percentages represent the proportions of each component used to fabricate the hybrid ADC 12 alloy composites. The choice of 6 wt% of LG is built up on our previously published work [30], which establishes that the chosen proportion is optimal in improving the tribo-mechanical properties of ADC alloy and also opens up the path to exploring the synergistic effects of hybrid reinforcement with varying proportion of hBN. where , m j r1 j and r2 j represent the matrix's, reinforcement 1 (LG), and reinforcement 2 (BN) volume fraction.…”

“…In the present study, an effort was put forth on unifying the approaches mentioned above as a novel, thereby making a sustainable approach of producing hybrid ADC 12 matrix alloy reinforced with hBN and LG to produce a high strength-to-weight ratio, low wear, and anti-corrosive material in contrast to that of unreinforced ADC 12. LG, scientifically known as Cymbopogon flexuous, is a native aromatic grass species indigenous to the southern part of India [12]. At the beginning of the previous decade, around 30,000 tons per annum of LG residue were anticipated to be generated worldwide [13]. LG, being an agricultural byproduct, is often available at a relatively low cost or even as waste.…”

“…Figure6demonstrates the experimental density, along with the porosity values and measured grain size, for the composites with varying MD wt%(2,4,6,8, and 10 wt%).It can be seen that the experimental density of the composites decreases as the MD content increases. The experimental density, however, exhibits a more pronounced decrement with increasing MD content, demonstrating a decreasing trend-the percentage difference in porosity increases from 1.24% in A to 3.91% in F. The reduction in experimental density is attributed to the lower density of the MD particles compared to the ADC 12 alloy, leading to increased porosity with higher MD contents.…”

“…Aluminum alloys, known for their lightweight and favorable mechanical characteristics, have been extensively used in various sectors, particularly the automotive industry [1]. Among these alloys, ADC 12 stands out as a well-regarded aluminum-silicon (Al-Si) alloy, valued for its exceptional castability, corrosion resistance, durability, and mechanical properties [2]. This material has a range of uses, notably manufacturing automotive components such as cylinder head covers, engine mounts, valves, and so on.…”
