While journal entries provided space for ongoing self‐reflection and were beneficial in examining growth at the end of our program (Villarreal‐Davis et al., 2020), journaling also allowed for the expression of distress and practice utilizing the existential framework. Journaling after sessions encouraged intentional reflection, where we could practice identifying existential themes, drawing connections, and contemplating paths of therapeutic inquiry without the pressures of supervision and peer feedback.…”
