UWB antenna with novel FSS reflector for the enhancement of the gain and bandwidth

Abstract: In this paper, a novel ultra-wide-band antenna backed by a suspended ground for an enhancement of bandwidth and a frequency selective surface (FSS) reflector for the enhancement of gain is proposed in order to meet the specific coverage requirements for broadband applications. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 13.4 GHz (1.8–15.2 GHz). To enhance the gain of the antenna, a FSS reflector is employed below the suggested ultra wide-band antenna. A novel FSS, which consists of 5 × 5 array of elemen… Show more

“…In addition to this limit, the degree of freedom can increase channel capacity, supporting a high SNR regime. The author [13] suggests a traditional method to switch between diversity gain and spatial multiplexing gain instead of focusing on the design configuration to achieve either gain. The orthogonal fading for channel estimation adds additional support to this design goal with a nominal Bond Equivalent Yield (BER) [14].…”

“…Table 5 compares the proposed work to previously published work in the open literature. References [19][20][21][22][23] show only UWB antennas that use FSS for gain enhancement, whereas references [24][25][26][27] show only reconfigurable operation of a low gain antenna that does not even operate in the UWB range. Reconfigurability for UWB antennas is represented by references [28][29][30][31].…”

“…Currently, because of its good performance, good overall shape adjustability, and low cost, the array antenna based on dielectric antennas has been concerned by researchers. With the deepening of research, more performance of the dielectric antennas has been discovered [12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20].…”
