“…The short-range order may be determined by two factors: coexistence of chemically ordered and disordered regions, and incomplete ordering inside chemically ordered regions. 22 Compared with ceramics at small concentrations of PT (,30%), 15,23,24 the super-lattice still exists in crystals when the Ti 4+ ion content of B-sites rises to 49%, showing a good order-disorder feature of single crystals.…”

“…PbO, Lu 2 O 3 , MgO, Nb 2 O 5 , and TiO 2 , with purities higher than 99.99%, were used as starting materials. To minimize the formation of the pyrochlore phase during crystal growth, the Columbite precursor method was applied to synthesize the PLN-PMN-PT polycrystalline starting materials [21,24]. LuNbO 4 , MgNb 2 O 6 and PbTiO 3 precursors were first prepared at 1200 1C for 4 h respectively, then PbO, LuNbO 4 , MgNb 2 O 6 and PbTiO 3 were well mixed in ethanol and calcined in 850 1C for 4 h to form PLN-PMN-PT polycrystalline materials.…”

“…The solid solution of the high T C binary system Pb(Lu 1/2 Nb 1/2 ) O 3 -PbTiO 3 (PLN-PT), with the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) region at a composition of around 0.49-0.50PT content separating the rhombohedral and tetragonal phase, has been investigated and their relatively high piezoelectric properties have been reported [21][22][23]. The tolerance factor of the PLN-PT system is calculated to be t¼ 0.95, which gives an expected T C around 320-360 1C based on Eitel's empirical rule in Ref.…”

“…Ferroelectrics with perovskite structure have been the cornerstone of modern high-tech electrical devices such as actuators, piezoelectric transducers and acoustic transducers. [1][2][3] Among various ferroelectrics with a complex perovskite structure, Pb(Lu 1/2 Nb 1/2 )O 3 -PbTiO 3 (PLN-PT) solid solutions were found in which the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) between tetragonal and rhombohedral phase is in the range of 0.49-0.51PT, exhibiting excellent electrical properties and high Curie temperature (T C ), [4][5][6] which makes the PLN-PT system a promising candidate for high-power transducer applications with a wide range of application temperature. In actual applications, devices are subjected to repetitive electric cycles.…”
