Vaccination of Broiler Chicks from Breeder Flocks Immunized with a Live or Inactivated Oil Emulsion Newcastle Disease Vaccine ,

Abstract: One-day-old chicks used in this study were from breeder flocks vaccinated with live (B1 and LaSota) or inactivated oil emulsion Newcastle disease (ND) vaccine. Chicks were vaccinated against ND by various procedures. The vaccination response was evaluated by hemagglutination-inhibition antibody titers and by challenge. Chicks from breeder flocks vaccinated with live virus vaccine had a geometric mean hemagglutination-inhibition antibody titer (GMT) for Newcastle of 7 (low maternal antibody titer) at 1 day of a… Show more

“…After blood sampling, each bird was injected subcutaneously in the back of the neck with 0·25 mL of an inactivated vaccine against Newcastle disease virus (NDV; Nobivac PMV, Intervet SA, Beaucouze, France). This vaccine dose corresponds to the standard volume recommended for chickens and pigeons (Eidson et al . 1982).…”

“…1) by injecting Ab isolated from immunized mothers into the egg yolks of unchallenged mothers and examined the effect on chick protection. We predicted that the Ab transferred would affect the chick immune response when re‐exposed to the same antigen that the mothers were exposed to, Newcastle Disease Virus (NDV) vaccine, in particular blocking the chick’s immune response as previously described with the same (Eidson et al. 1982; Staszewski et al.…”
