Vacuum Thermal Treated Ni-CeO2/SBA-15 Catalyst for CO2 Methanation

Abstract: Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-V catalyst was prepared by the impregnation method with vacuum thermal treatment and used for CO2 methanation reaction. Compared with Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-air catalyst with thermal treatment in air, the reduced Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-V catalyst with vacuum thermal treatment exhibited higher Ni dispersion and smaller Ni particle size. In CO2 methanation reaction, the Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-V catalyst was more active and selective than the Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-air catalyst. The good activity and selectivity of Ni-CeO2/SBA-15… Show more

“…Figure 1 shows the powder XRD patterns of the fresh and reduced catalysts. For the fresh Ni-La 2 O 3 /SiO 2 , the peaks at 2θ = 37.2 • , 43.3 • , and 62.9 • are attributed to NiO [44,45]. The reduced Ni-La 2 O 3 /SiO 2 showed weak Ni peaks at 44.5 • and 51.7 • [44,45].…”

“…The Ni-La2O3/SiO2 catalyst exhibits two reduction peaks. The first peak at 340 °C corresponds to the reduction of free NiO [21,39,45]. The second peak at 385 °C corresponds to the reduction of NiO with weak interaction with La2O3 or SiO2 [40,42,46,47].…”

“…H 2 -temperature programmed reduction (H 2 -TPR) was performed on a TP-5080 multifunctional adsorption apparatus (Xianquan, Tianjin, China). A detailed description of the H 2 -TPR experiment can be found in our previous publication [33]. H 2 -temperature programmed desorption (H 2 -TPD) was performed on the same apparatus as H 2 -TPR.…”

“…In CO2 methanation reaction, the Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-V catalyst was more active and selective than the Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-air catalyst. It was suggested that the good activity and selectivity of Ni-CeO2/SBA-15-V catalyst should be due to highly dispersed Ni in contact with small CeO2 particles [57]. The works indicated below describe nickelcontaining mono-, bi-and more-component catalysts for CO2 methanation with different bases and contents of metal components.…”
