IntroductionThis research aims to study the role of social support as a mediator in the relationship between technostress or academic stress and health in university students.MethodsA descriptive, quantitative cross-sectional study has been carried out through a self-reported survey answered by 389 students during March and April 2022. The current level of health was the outcome variable. Technostress and academic stress were the criterion variables. Perceived social support was the mediator variable. The sociodemographic variables and ICT use at the educational level were the independent variables.ResultsWomen have higher levels of technostress and academic stress than men. Social support significantly and positively mediates the relationship between academic stress and self-perceived health in men.DiscussionThere is a clear need to develop new social management strategies that assist students in developing stable and long-lasting social networks, which can reduce stress during the student period and provide personal tools for later working life.

Dado que existen diferencias en la literatura científica respecto a la lectura a través de dispositivos digitales, el presente trabajo tiene la finalidad de evaluar la comprensión lectora en función del manejo de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (TIC), y la posibilidad de predecir el desempeño lector. Se evaluaron tres soportes: papel, ordenador y teléfono móvil o celular. Se trabajó con una muestra no probabilística e intencional de 178 estudiantes universitarios de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Se utilizaron tres lecturas seleccionadas ad-hoc para la investigación con sus respectivas preguntas y un cuestionario de usabilidad de las TIC. Los estudiantes leyeron los textos durante tres minutos, después respondieron 25 preguntas de opción múltiple por cada texto. En términos generales, el resultado de la investigación fue que la comprensión lectora mejora cuando se realiza en soporte ordenador. El estudio correlacional permite afirmar que la modalidad afecta diferencialmente a los sujetos. Así, dicho resultado está mediado por las habilidades, preferencias, usos y costumbres de los lectores. Se puede inferir que la sociedad de la información parece avanzar hacia una mejora en la comprensión lectora en medios no tradicionales de lectura respecto a lostradicionales.

The growing use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), in the most diverse dimensions and institutions of social life, imposes challenges on the educational systems that must accompany this technological advance. The objective of this research was to know the use that the students of the University of Évora make of technological supports (computer and/or tablet and mobile phone), both in the academic and personal spheres. The study sample is made up of a total of 308 students to whom the CUTIC questionnaire (Jiménez, Alvarado & Llopis, 2017) was applied on digital behaviors and opinions on the use of ICT. Data collection was carried out using Google Form, with prior informed consent. According to the results, the students make frequent use of the computer and the tablet in their academic tasks, the use of the mobile phone being less frequent, while their emotions and behaviors are not altered by the use and access to technological supports in neither of the two levels of studies analyzed (graduate and postgraduate).
