El artículo comienza analizando las principales tendencias en investigación en el campo de la historia de la psicología y lo que fue la oposición entre la historiografía whig y la historiografía crítica. Seguidamente, se analizan las distintas fases de la metodología de investigación en historia de la psicología. Para ello se comparan las actividades de la investigación en historia con las actividades de la investigación en las ciencias naturales y en las ciencias sociales. Como resultado de ese análisis comparativo se concluye que las fases de la metodología de la investigación en el campo de la historia de la psicología, en cierta medida, coinciden con las fases de la metodología de la investigación en otras disciplinas científicas. Palabras clave: historiografía, psicología, investigación, metodologíaThe paper begins by analyzing the main research trends in the field of the history of psychology and the classical opposition between Whig historiography and critical historiography. Afterwards, it analyzes the various stages of the research methodology used in the field of the history of psychology. In order to do this, the research activities of the historian of psychology are compared to those conducted in both the natural sciences and the social sciences. As a result of this comparative analysis, it is possible to conclude that the stages of the research methodology applied in the field of the history of psychology coincide to some extent with the stages of the research methodology used in other scientific fields.Keywords: historiography, psychology, research, methodology Acerca de la Metodología de Investigación en Historia de la Psicología La Cuestión del Método y los Inicios de la Profesionalización en Historiografía de la PsicologíaDesde una perspectiva internacional, el interés por la historia de la psicología no es nuevo. Más todavía, por el lado de la historia, la nouvelle histoire y su antecedente directo, la Escuela de los Annales, proponían el abordaje de nuevos objetos de estudio, de manera que la historia no se limitara a la historia política o de las grandes personalidades. En esa dirección, Lucien Febvre (1952Febvre ( /1992 recomendaba: "Historiadores, sean geógrafos, abogados, sociólogos o psicólogos, no cierren los ojos ante el gran movimiento que, delante de ustedes, transforma a una velocidad vertiginosa las ciencias del universo físico." (traducción mía).Por el lado de la psicología, por así llamarlo, se ha señalado que, aun antes de la aparición de la psicología científica en el último cuarto del siglo XIX, ya Carus había escrito una historia de la psicología apenas iniciado el siglo XIX (Littman, 1981). Un estudio de revisión clásico revelaba que, solamente en inglés, había no menos de 180 libros sobre historia de la psicología hacia 1988 (Hilgard, Leary & McGuire, 1991). Integration of data derived from objective post positivist approach and interpretive non-positivist approach through mixed methods research has gained increasing attention in the recent past. But, at the same, concerns have been raised in the process of integrating data and, hence, enhancing validity/credibility of a research. This article seeks to analyze some concerns and challenges related to these aspects and provides some process to address these challenges.This article reviewed various peer reviewed journals and other grey literatures focusing on data integration within mixed method research. The paper presents some theoretical and methodological concerns and challenges of data integration and reviews two validity/credibility frameworks. Based on these review, the paper outlines a strategy of data integration. The strategy includes selection of appropriate research methodology and data conversion processes based on the research need. The paper provides a four step process for data conversion by adopting quantitizing approach which include; creating focus questions, response coding, thematic categorizing and employing qualitative data analysis process.

A “Sense of Place” in Public Participation in Scientific Research

Public participation in scientific research (PPSR) within the natural sciences has been demonstrated as an effective strategy to expand cognitive knowledge and understanding of ecology, with implications regarding individual perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors about the environment and feelings about the personal relevance of science. Yet the development of PPSR outcomes, the processes through which they form, and the settings where they are shaped are still not fully understood. Because most PPSR takes place and is grounded in specific sites and socioecological contexts, the relationships among PPSR participants and the places in which they explore, collect, and gather information are central to the PPSR experience. Nonetheless, a dearth of empirical research on the interactions between people and places in PPSR highlights a promising area of future scholarship. Drawing from theoretical traditions within geography and environmental psychology, this article contends that PPSR experiences and outcomes both influence and are influenced by a “sense of place.” Highlighting the significance of people–place relationships in PPSR via a place‐based window, this article calls for efforts that bridge multiple academic communities to open innovative avenues for understanding natural science PPSR experiences, the cognitive, conative, and affective outcomes of such encounters, and the dynamics of human–environment interactions.
