“…Anesthesiologists were asked to maintain a mean arterial pressure of 60 to 80 mm Hg during the surgical exposure and anchor placement and a mean arterial pressure of 70 to 90 during the surgical correction 17,18 . The so-called average mean arterial pressure was estimated by measuring systolic and diastolic blood pressure at fifteen-minute intervals during the procedure as described 19 .…”

“…Our analysis of blood loss was based on the paper by Meunier et al [23], which uses a modification of the Gross method [27] which has been validated in a number of studies [23,28]. We were able to demonstrate a mean blood loss in the range 1081 to 1157 ml in keeping with findings from previous studies [29,30].…”

“…The estimation of blood loss was determined by the method described by Meunier et al (2008) [23]. The haematocrit and the haemoglobin concentrations of the patients were measured preoperatively.…”

“…Meunier's formula [21] Meunier et al tested the haemoglobin (Hb) dilution method with blood donors in order to know whether or not this method is accurate for blood loss estimation: Estimated blood loss : BV Â Hb i À Hb e Hb e where BV is calculating using Nadler's formula; Hb i and Hb e are the Hb concentrations before and on a given day after blood donation, respectively. Meunier et al compared the estimated blood loss and the donated blood volume from day one to day 14 post-donation.…”
