Value estimation of the use case parameters using SOM and fuzzy rules

Abstract: Many decisions during making a project estimation and planning are based on previous experience and competency of a manager. Evaluated completed projects provide rich knowledge about similar decisions and reality. This paper focuses on the approach how to estimate value of specific parameters of the projects utilizing parameterized use case model. The proven methods are used -SOM for grouping similar use-cases and fuzzy rules for calculating the search parameter value. An important part of the approach there i… Show more

“…The method learns the relations and rules from provided knowledge base and creates a prediction model for particular company independently on business processes, software development processes, team management etc. This approach is based on our previous research that is described in [26]. This paper expands our previous approach by the SVM method and the optional usage of the SOM method.…”

“…Our approach can help manager to estimate the project complexity and the risk of additional work for new projects based on the analysis of use cases. The method uses knowledge base of previous (historical) use cases and provides a decision support in the form of a probability given by estimation of extra work in the project and is based on the usage of SOM and fuzzy rules [26].…”
