Value modelling for multi-stakeholder and multi-objective optimisation in engineering design

Abstract: The work presented culminates in the development of a value model used in the conceptual phase of engineering design, with the preferences of more than one stakeholder addressed in the Multi-Stakeholder and Multi-Objective Optimization. The "value" of proposed solutions is assessed in an objective way both from performance and economic perspectives, while the optimal solution is identified based on the needs of the user and manufacturer, as major stakeholders. This novel value model for consistent value assess… Show more

“…Instead of assuming the game is zero-sum, a hybrid model is created that manages stakeholder expectations in a functional way, as well as identifying and modelling important decisions that have to be made for the bargaining process to continue. It provides a single, all-accounting solution for a design based on stakeholder preferences and design requirements (Papageorgiou 2016).…”

“…Several methods for making decisions based on multiple value attributes exist (Ross et al 2010;Papageorgiou, Eres, and Scanlan 2016). In this paper, we use multi-attribute utility theory, as presented by Keeney and Raiffa (1993).…”
