“…In fact starting from 1984, we observed a progressive increase in the reports of UTA in our Registry, through prenatal diagnosis that increased to 60% of all cases of UTA in the last year of the study. This observation is similar to others in literature [19][20][21][22][23]. Otherwise UTA associated with other unrelated defects shows a stability in time, as shown by the very low correlation coefficient (r = 0.09).…”

“…However, our inci dence of 18.9°/oo is similar to the postnatal ultrasound screening incidence reported by Riccipctitoni et al [ 11 ]. Our diagnosis accura cy is higher than the 50.1-81.5% reported pre viously [3,10,[12][13][14], But the positive predic tive value definition changes with these differ ent studies. Our high rate also reflects im provements in scanning equipment and exper tise by obstetricians, who now have a better experience of fetal uropathies.…”

“…Their incidence varies from 0.1% to 1% of all pregnancies. Uropathies correspond to 30-50% of all structural abnormalities found at birth [1][2][3]. The spectrum of malformations is wide, and their prognosis is significantly poorer in fetuses with bilateral lesions and decreased volume of amniotic fluid.…”
