“…Particularly, the resistance to linezolid (75.8%) and vancomycin (38.3%) in the study were much higher than that of E. faecalis isolates from duck feces and skin at four slaughterhouses in the southern part of Korea (11 and 0%, respectively) ( Na et al, 2019 ). In addition, the resistance to linezolid of E. faecalis isolated from human urine samples in Egypt is lower than our results, although the isolation rate of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus ( VRE ) from hospital is higher ( Osman et al, 2020 ). For immunocompromised patient, the risk of VRE-related bacteremia and other infections is significantly increased.…”

“…In addition, in most of our study MRSA strains, cfr co-expressed with the erm gene (erythromycin resistance) that has a significant correlation with biofilm formations (Beceiro et al, 2013;Li et al, 2018). Previous studies in Enterococcus species exhibited that strong biofilm formation was more prevalent among linezolidresistant compared with -sensitive isolates (Osman et al, 2020). S. aureus is a highly adaptable bacterium capable of dynamic changes in its virulence and resistance phenotypes when exposure to the host defenses or antibiotics (Abdelhady et al, 2015).…”

“…The emergence of VREs in food-animal production systems has been largely attributed to the heavily use of avoparcin as a growth promoter ( 40 ). Even though the use of growth-promoting antibiotics in farm animals has been banned since 1997, high rates of VRE carriage have been reported globally in economic animals, as well as in companion and laboratory animals ( 41 ) as well as wildlife ( 42 ), and which might act as reservoir populations ( 43 54 ). Accordingly, the continuous long-term monitoring of a broader range of microbiome and resistomes between captive and free-ranging wildlife for enterococcal species as well as other vancomycin-resistant genes dispersal is clearly required.…”
