Vapor−Liquid Equilibria, Excess Molar Enthalpies, and Excess Molar Volumes of Dimethyl Carbonate + 1,2-Epoxybutane at 288.15, 298.15, or 313.15 K

Abstract: Vapor−liquid equilibria, (VLE), excess molar enthalpies, , and excess molar volumes, , of dimethyl carbonate + 1,2-epoxybutane have been determined at 288.15, 298.15, and 313.15 K. The VLE data, obtained by using an all-glass dynamic recirculating still, were tested for thermodynamic consistency and correlated by the Wilson equation. and values were determined by means of an LKB flow microcalorimeter and an Anton Paar vibrating tube density meter, respectively. All excess properties are positive, with … Show more

“…Chemicals. Dimethyl carbonate, an Aldrich product, stated purity 99 mol % (from purchaser), was fractionally distilled using the same procedure described previously (Francesconi and Comelli, 1996). Butanol isomers were from Aldrich with the exception of 2-butanol, which was a Merck product, and were used without further purification owing to their high-grade purity.…”

“…Chemicals. Dimethyl carbonate, an Aldrich product, stated purity 99 mol %, was fractionally distilled with sodium, as described in a previous paper (Francesconi and Comelli, 1996) and the purity, tested by GCL after purification, was 99.9 mol %.…”

“…Apparatus and Procedure. Isothermal VLE measurements were determined using a glass dynamic recirculating still (Fritz Gmbh, Normag, Hofheim, Germany), the same as used in our previous studies (Francesconi and Comelli, 1996;Comelli et al 1996). The experimental method and the operating procedure have been described elsewere (Gmehling et al, 1980).…”
