Vapor-liquid equilibrium data for systems ethylbenzene-anisole and p-xylene-anisole

Abstract: Psg°i s the vapor pressure of pure mercury at the temperature, T, under study. Png is the mercury vapor pressure at the temperature, T, under study. The variations of the activity coefficient with the temperature are within the range of the precision of the measurements: ~1_2%)X "Hg / The values of 7Hg are indicated in Table II. For the solid liquid phase, we used the liquidus curve given by Ito et al. ( 5). The activity coefficient of mercury in the presence of indium can be considered as independent of the t… Show more

“…The experimental VLE data of the present work for p -xylene and ethylbenzene with anisole was also compared with the reported data in the literature, and the comparison is given the Supporting Information document in Tables S1 and S2 and Figures S1 and S2, respectively. Although the nature of the T – x , y plots was similar, the shift in the curves was observed due to difference in pressures of the experimentation.…”

“…The experimental data have been checked for thermodynamic consistency and correlated with three activity coefficient models, Wilson, nonrandom two liquid (NRTL) and unversal quasichemical (UNIQUAC), and the binary interaction parameters were estimated which can be used in process modeling. The data generated for p -xylene–anisole and ethylbenzene–anisole were also compared with the data available in the literature . No data were reported in the literature for the other two pairs.…”

“…Using the linear correlation above, C p is a suitable marker for predicting the boiling temperature of large PAHs. To check the accuracy of the proposed linear equation, extra data, including large PAHs such as ovalene, were used as shown in Table . − , The Δ S ( T ), Δ H ( T ) and Δ G ( T ) for large PAHs could not be obtained using the G3 method, so this data is not considered in Figure a. The extra validations shown in Figure d further confirm that C p is an excellent tracer for the PAH boiling temperature.…”

“…1-Butanol, laboratory reagent grade (BDH, India) and p-xylene (Riedel, Germany) were dried using suitable drying agents and then purified by distillation in a glass column as described elsewhere [6]. Table I summarizes some of the physical properties of the reagents used.…”

“…The equilibrated mixtures were analyzed by the refractive index method using a Bausch and Lomb Abbe-3L refractometer. The apparatus, modifications, and analytical techniques have already been described [6]. The estimated uncertainties in the measurements were 0.0002 mole fraction in composition, 0.1 K in temperature, and 0.27 kPa in pressure.…”
