Vapor-liquid equilibriums of the sodium chloride-water system in the temperature range 300-440 .degree.C

Abstract: Be-0.11468 X 10"2 S, 0.32200 X 10"2 b2 -1.21090 X 10~2 SE, g/cm3 0.0003 P=A0 + A2X2 + A2X22 + (B0 +B2X2 + B2X22)X, (t -400);xi =^KHS04>^2 =^V2Os• A2X22 + (So + S,X2 + B2X2*)X,(t-400). The values for the employed parameters are given in Table VI. The nonlinearity of the system suggests that depending on concentration different complexes of vanadium(V) are formed. In contrast to the K2S207-KHS04 system, the K2S207-KHS04-V205 system is not ideal. Literature Cited(1) Hansen, N. H. Thesis (in Danish

“…Since Sourirajan and Kennedy (1962) did not perform own measurements of halite-saturated liquids but simply extracted values from the Keevil (1942) paper, we will not discuss their numbers any further. Both Keevil (1942) and Benrath et al (1937) report much lower solubilities than the data derived from DTA/DPA measurements (Gunter et al, 1983;Chou, 1987;Koster van Groos, 1991;Mok, 1993), the solubility data by Urusova (1974), the synthetic fluid inclusion results of Sterner et al (1988), and straightforward extrapolations of the liquid compositions on the V + L surface from the studies of Parisod and Plattner (1981) and Urusova (1975).…”

“…There is a large number of experimental data available for H 2 O-NaCl, many of them also describing the behavior at high temperatures and pressures (e.g., Adams, 1931;Keevil, 1942;Ö lander and Liander, 1950;Benson et al, 1953;Martynova and Samoilov, 1957;Lemmlein and Klevtsov, 1961;Sourirajan and Kennedy, 1962;Khaibullin and Borisov, 1966;Marshall and Jones, 1974;Urusova, 1974Urusova, , 1975Hilbert, 1979;Galobardes et al, 1981;Grant-Taylor, 1981;Parisod and Plattner, 1981;Gehrig et al, 1983;Gunter et al, 1983;Wood et al, 1984;Bodnar et al, 1985;Bischoff et al, 1986;Rosenbauer and Bischoff, 1987;Bischoff and Rosenbauer, 1988;Majer et al, 1988;Sterner et al, 1988;White et al, 1988;Knight and Bodnar, 1989;Marshall, 1990;Koster van Groos, 1991;Majer et al, 1991;Tkachenko and Shmulovich, 1992;Armellini and Tester, 1993;Crovetto et al, 1993;Mok, 1993;Ho et al, 1994;Simonson et al, 1994;Kravchuk and Tö dheide, 1996). For other water-salt systems, such data are far more limited but phase boundaries are only moderately shifted by the presence of other major solutes such as KCl (Hovey et al, 1990;…”

“…Numerous experimental studies conducted to measure vapor/liquid composition and density variability (Keevil 1942;Olander and Liander 1950;Copeland et al 1953;Sourirajan and Kennedy 1962;Khaibullin and Borisov 1966;Liu and Lindsay 1972;Mashovets et al 1973;Urusova 1974Urusova , 1975Parisod and Plattner 1981;Wood et al 1984;Bischoff et al 1986;Chou 1987;Rosenbauer and Bischoff 1987;Bischoff and Rosenbauer 1988;see Liebscher 2007, this volume, for a review of experimental studies) resulted in the development of vapor-liquid-halite equilibrium tables allowing an accurate estimation of the composition and density of the different phases (Sourirajan and Kennedy 1962;Bischoff 1991). Data reveal the complex changes of the two-phase surface of the NaCl-H 2 O system (Fig.…”

“…Thus, the vapor pressures and density measurements above 573 K have a precision on the order of 1% or a few percent, whereas the lower temperature data are more precise and are supplemented by heats of dilution and heat capacities. The most extensive and selfconsistent array of measurements are those of Urusova (3)(4)(5), and our treatment is based primarily on her data but with use of other measurements (6)(7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12)(13) where available and accurate. Urusova (14) made some calculations of the activity coefficients of water on the basis of her measurements, but these are given only for a single pressure at a given temperature.…”

“…If ASG0/RT is the Gibbs energy of fusion or solution to the pure, supercooled liquid that is the standard state for NaCl, ASG0/RT = -2 ln(x2,satY±,sat). [10] Solubility values were given by Liu and Lindsay (26) temperature to allow integration of Eq. 11.…”
