Vapor Pressure of Tiracetin, Triethylene Glycol Dinitrate, and Metriol Trinitrate.

Abstract: The vapor pressures of triacetin, triethylene glycol dinitrate, and metriol trinitrate for temperatures ranging from 11 to 75°C. and the constants of the integrated Clausius-Clapeyron equation are reported. Densities and refractive indices were also determined. The results obtained with metriol trinitrate are compared with those obtained by Piccardo.

“…Calorimetric values have recently been determined (11). Enthalpies of vaporization of the remaining esters in Table 1 have been calculated from more recent vapor pressure measurements (4,(12)(13)(14)(15) or estimated (4). Two values of AH, originally reported at higher temperatures have been corrected to 298.15 K using calculated values of Cp(l) and C,(g) (9, 10): glyceryl triacetate (12) ((94.40 f 0.21) kJ mol-I at 301.1 K) and methyl g-octadecenoate (13) (methyl oleate) ((84.5 f 4.2) kJ mol-I at 427 K).…”

“…The vapor pressure of triacetin at ambient temperature has been determined in several works. To complete these data, the triacetin boiling temperature was measured for different pressures between 5 and 70 mmHg. The results are shown in Figure , and as can be observed, the new data followed the trend set by the previous works.…”

“…In the literature, data for compounds such as methyl esters , and glycerol , can be found. In the case of triacetin, the data fall in the usual range of pressures used in the oleochemical industry (10–100 mmHg), so it is necessary to supplement this information with experimental data obtained in the laboratory. Compounds such as diacetinmonoglycerides, diacetin, and monoacetin have not yet been well studied and are not commercially available as pure mixtures.…”

“…The vaporization enthalpies reported in the literature are not always adjusted to the reference temperature (298 K). That is why we treated the primary experimental results from refs , , and , using eqs and , and we calculated Δ l g H m (298 K) for the sake of comparison with our results (see Table ). Vaporization enthalpies Δ l g H m (298 K) for 1,2-ethanediol diacetate and 1,2,3-propanetrol triacetate measured in this work are in close agreement with those values from the literature (see Table ).…”
