“…The apparatus is similar to Marsh's (9) except for certain experimental details described elsewhere. (10,11) To prevent condensation effects on the mercury meniscus, the temperature of the manometer was maintained at 325 K by circulating water thermostatted to ±0.1 K. Likewise, most of the vapour phase was also maintained at T = 325 K. The temperature of the liquid sample was measured by a set of Beckmann thermometers, previously calibrated against the vapour pressure of benzene (Merck mole fraction >0.999), along with Ambrose's equation (12) relating temperature (T 68 ) with pressure by means of a sum of Chebyshev polynomials up to the sixth degree. The accuracy in the temperature was estimated to be ±0.01 K. The volume of the cell containing the liquid mixture was about 12 cm 3 , and (8 to 10) cm 3 were used in each experiment.…”
