Show more

“…The occurrence of appreciable amounts of cis ‐geraniol (leaf oil) as well as octadienol and estragole (berry oil) has been rarely mentioned. Therefore, the composition of Algerian myrtle oil is similar to those reported for myrtle oils from Corsica , Sardinia , and Tunisia . In contrast, it differed from oils containing myrtenyl acetate which have been found in Morocco , Spain , Portugal , Southern Italy , Montenegro , Croatia , Greece , and Turkey .…”

“…Since that time, isobutyl isobutyrate was reported in most papers related to the analysis of myrtle essential oils. Conversely, the three other esters appeared very scarcely in the reported compositions: isobutyl 2‐methylbutyrate has been identified in myrtle leaf essential oils from Corsica (up to 1.4%), Turkey (up to 0.1%), Tunisia (0.4%) and Italy (0.08–0.45%) 2‐methylbutyl isobutyrate in myrtle leaf essential oils from Turkey (up to 0.1%) and Italy (0.14–0.30%) 2‐methylbutyl 2‐methylbutyrate in myrtle leaf essential oils from Italy (0.09–0.47%) and from California (0.32–0.66%)…”

“…Mainly for the importance in the perfume and flavor industry, the chemical composition of myrtle essential oils was previously studied in leaves from different geographic areas (18)(19)(20)(21)(22)(23)(24)(25): Spain (26), Corsica (27), Sardinia (28)(29)(30), Tunisia (31)(32)(33), Iran (8,(34)(35)(36)(37), Italy (38,39), Algeria (40,41), Greece (42), Cyprus (43), Montenegro (9), Croatia (44); and in fruits (26,29,45). Less information is available on myrtle essential oil from flowers (13,26,44).…”
