“…Rock creep behavior as a challenging and significant topic has a considerable application in geotechnical and mining engineering (Tarifard et al 2022). Underground energy storage facilities, oil and gas well drilling, and longterm stability of deep underground spaces and mining operations are some applications of creep analysis in rock engineering projects (Sharifzadeh et al 2013;Firme et al 2018;Dehghan and Khodaei 2021;Liu et al 2023). Many factors also affect the creep behavior of rocks, such as temperature, stress level, rock anisotropy, water content, etc., which highlight the intricate nature of rocks' creep behavior (Li et al 2020b;Shan et al 2021;Kou et al 2023).…”

“…In recent years, many scholars have done a lot of research work on the theory of viscoelastic plasticity of rocks. Liu Wenbo et al [9] separated the creep strain into instantaneous strain, viscoelastic strain and viscoplastic strain according to the characteristics of the creep curve, and established a variable-parameter creep constitutive model of deformation separation according to the parameters introduced according to the viscoelastic-plastic strain characteristics. Bo Hu [10] carried out cyclic loading and unloading creep tests on rock samples with different fracture dip angles, and the results showed that the viscoelastic and viscoplastic strains of the samples with an inclination angle of 30° were greater than those of the samples with an inclination angle of 90° under the same stress, and the two strains increased nonlinearly with the increase of stress.…”

“…Balakot, located in the Himalayan Mountains of Pakistan, has a rugged topography, fragile geology, active tectonics, and climatic conditions and is exposed to a high density of landslides. Climate change-induced erratic rainfall patterns, increasing temperatures in the area, and human intervention, including deforestation, excavation, and land use changes, have increased the frequency of landslides and pose a significant risk to the communities and infrastructure [25]. A comprehensive understanding of the underlying slope failure mechanism is required to characterize large-scale landslide deformation and potential triggers [4].…”
