Variable parameter pulse width modulation‐based current tracking technology applied to four‐switch three‐phase shunt active power filter

Abstract: A novel configuration is proposed with a y/y step-up transformer adding to AC side of the four-switch three-phase (FSTP) active power filter (APF), so as to improve the utilisation of DC voltage and further widen the voltage range of FSTP APF. To ameliorate the current tracking performance of the FSTP inverter, a variable parameter pulse width modulation (VPPWM) approach is presented. In the proposed VPPWM method, the triangular wave is not fixed but derived by integration of reference current error signals. A… Show more

“…Based on (13), the harmonic voltages injected into the stator voltages are depend on the values of inverter voltage drops V 3 and V 4 . The instantaneous voltage drop caused by the semiconductor power switch can be represented by an on-state forward voltage drop v f connected in series with an on-state resistance R on [13]. Thus,…”

“…Four-switch three-phase (FSTP) inverters instead of SSTP inverters have been used in motor drives [4]- [9], renewable energy applications [10], and active power filters [11], [12]. Control of FSTP brushless dc motor drives has been presented in [4]; using DTC with non-sinusoidal back EMF [5], using single current sensor [6] or using DTC with reduced torque ripples [7].…”

“…For the indirect control method, some studies [10]- [14] analyze the three-phase four-switch inverter fault-tolerant control strategy. The study in [15] introduces this kind of control strategy to the control of an APF and the study in [16] discusses the operation of a TFSSAPF when the three-phase grid voltage is unbalanced and the grid is under a short-time fault.…”
