“…According to his calculation, these subterminal chromosomes have the arm ratio of 7.4 and 6.0 respectively. So, they are typical A type chromosomes in the sense of the present author (Kurita 1986). He also reported that the chromosome complement of the race having 2n=13 consists of six medianly constricted, three submedianly constricted, one subterminally constricted, and three terminally constricted chromosomes.…”

“…Though any of previous authors did not report, conspicuous hetrochromatic proximal segment on some T type chromosomes was observed. A small amount of C-banding positive hetero chromatin is in this segment (Kurita 1986). The boundary between heterochromatic segment and euchromatic part in such T type chromosome looks like a constriction at a glance, so some investigators misunderstood it primary constriction or centromeric region and described this chromosome as an acrocentric one carrying satellite.…”

“…Current information concerning chromosome banding in this family has shown no significant heterochromatin content or very low C-band numbers on metaphase chromosomes (VosA and MARCHI 1979;KURITA 1986;SINHA and ROY 1986;D'AMATO and DE DOMINICIS 1996;YUZBASIOGLU et al 1996). A more substantial polymorphic pattern, consisting of interstitial C-bands, was found by SVESHNIKOVA (1991) in analysing 30 populations of Galanthus species from Russia and Bulgaria.…”
